The 23AE21 board records up to eight analog mea-suredvalues.The23AE21boardallowsittoconnectall typical measured value ranges.
Other effective ranges and live ziro signals becomegeneratedoutoftheserangesthroughconversionof the communication unit CMU.
The 23AE21 is functional- and pin-compatible tothe23AE20 board.
Basic checks and computingintensive, cyclical pro.cessing functions will already be done on the boardand remove therefore the burden from the centralunit.Relevantchanges transmitsthe board as eventvia the peripheral bus.
The 8 differential inputs are not potentially isolatedagainst the RTU560 power supply.
Unipolar or bipolar values resolves the 23AE21 into4096steps (12 bit plus sign) for 100 % ofthe measur-ing signal.
The differential inputs are protected against staticand dynamic over-voltages by a protection circuit. A low-passfiltersuppresses non linefrequency ac disturbance.
The AD-converter, operating with the sigma-deltamethodscans with ahigherresolution and has addi-tional algorithms for a high suppression of line fre-quency and line harmonics interference voltagesEven for a deviation of + 10 % of the line frequencythere is still given a suppression of > 45 dB. The in-ternal high resolution allows it to scan all measuringranges (exception:+2VDC(11 bit +sign)) with thesame resolution(12 bit + sign) on one board. A9th channelis used for automatic zero calibration.
The analoginput board 23AE20 can carry out the following processing functions on the measured values:
· Zero point monitoring
· Switch--over recognition
· Smoothing
· Threshold value monitoring on absolutev alue or with accumulation and periodic background transmission.
· Limit value monitoring with event recording
Measuring range and line frequency are easily to configure by switch registers respectively jumpers. The microcontroller needs these configurations parameters to setup the AD-converter.
The microcontroller controls the A/D converter andexecutes all of the processing functions of the con-figured measured values withinthe conversion timeFurthemorethemicrocontrollerisresponsible forin-teractive communication with the RTU560 systembus.All confguration characteristics and processing parameters are downloaded from the CMU viathe RTU system bus.

During initialization and operation the board carriesout anumberoftests.lfafault occursitisreportedtotheCMU. Allfaultconditionsimpairingthefunction ofthe board are displayed as commonfault signal withalightemittingdiode(ST)onthefrontpanel.A failureof the board is detected by the CMU.
